Hairstyling Ideas & Treatments : How to Dye Your Hair Silver

Hi I’m Emilia and I’m here to talk to you about dyeing your hair silver. Silver is a very difficult color to get into the hair because its really a blue gray and silver is very metallic looking so when you’re trying to look metallic its not really going to work but if you try to attempt it this is what you really going to do, your going to want to pre lighten your hair and that means use a lightener or bleach with a fairly or high volume of peroxide probably 20, 30, 40, somewhere in there.

You’re going to want to apply that to the areas you want to be silver and bring it up extremely light probably this light which you see here. Now this model actually has a silver color on her strands of blond and as you can see its not silver at all because the highlight itself was not brought up light enough, it was more on the yellow side so when you put that silver on really what it did is it just toned out the yellow. So, then I would probably recommend is using a direct dye or a semi-permanent color something like manic panic or something of that type of thing and you’re going to apply that to the hair.

Now that’s a direct dye so its really going to do is coat that hair but its going to coat it enough or you might get that metallic look. If your trying to do this for like Halloween or something around that thing then I would probably recommend like a spray something that you spray and its going to make the hair more silvery cause silver is a very difficult color to achieve in the hair.
