Small Dog Breed Care : How to Care for a Pug
Hi I'm Nancy; I'm the training manager at the Berkley East Baker Main Society we're going to talk today about taking care of Pug. Pugs or a small flat faced dog the technical term for that is which means that they have a domy head, round eyes and a very, very flat face. Now what happens when a dog has a flat face like that is they often will over heat because they are not getting as much oxygen as a dog with a regular type of muscles so that’s the first thing you're going to have to take care of is making sure that you pug does not get over worked or over heated other than that, they are an extremely hardy little dog that enjoy a number of sports, they really like playing with you, they're playful, they're good walkers and just delightful to care for. The coat is not a problem and the, among the other things that they, that they do get you have to watch out for something called cherry eye where they'll get a little gland and their eyeball become swollen and that will require surgery, and their eyes can pop out. So you have to be really careful about any kind of blow or squeezing that happens to them can pop their eyes, so want to be careful about that, got to take care of the head, got to take care of the face and the rest of the body is just fabulous.
