Small Dog Breed Care : How to Care for a Dachshund

Hi I'm Nancy, I'm the training manager at the Berkley East Baker Main Society in Berkley California and how would like to learn a little bit about taking care of your Dachshund. Now dachshunds are little hounds and they're often called winner dogs but you might be interested in knowing that they come 3 varieties, you have your smooth hair dachshund, you have your wire hair dachshund and you have your long hair dachshund and each of the 3 varieties has a different personality.

But the thing that they had in common s that they're a hound and hounds especially sit hounds like, are built close to the ground and the sit hounds are built close to the ground and because of that they're going to have that nose on the ground a lot of the time, so getting your dachshunds attention is going to be important, you need to train that, train you dachshund to know his name but not his address, haha!

Anyway train your dachshund to pay attention to you when you speak so that you have their attention before you ask them to do something. Dachshunds are wiggly, happy, happy gold lucky little dogs and they made just fabulous pets. Because of the long back they are prone to back injuries so they might not be the best pet to have with a very, very small child, they need someone who can kindly respect their distance and who can respect physiology.
